The history of Ardbeg began in 1815 when John McDougall officially established the distillery on the south coast of Islay, a Scottish island known for its robust, peaty whiskies. The real turnaround came in 1997 when The Glenmorangie Company took over the distillery, marking the beginning of a new chapter for Ardbeg.

Since this revival, Ardbeg has not only restored its reputation, but strengthened it. By staying true to traditional production methods while continuously seeking innovation, the brand has secured its place among the world’s most beloved whiskies.
