Introducing the inaugural release of the Glen Scotia 12 Years Icons of Campbeltown series – The Mermaid. This exceptional release marks a celebration of the enduring Campbeltown community, a driving force behind Glen Scotia’s historical resilience. Drawing inspiration from the Campbeltown Market Cross – a revered meeting point steeped in history, adorned with depictions of saints and beasts – we embark on a journey of storytelling and local spirit.
In collaboration with acclaimed artist Joel Holtzman (known for his work with Lucasfilm, Marvel, Disney, Macmillan), each release of the Icons of Campbeltown series comes to life through captivating artwork.
In Release 1, we delve into the community lore – a sighting of a mermaid along our coastal shores. Embracing this extraordinary moment, we’ve carefully selected a Palo Cortado sherry cask finish to complement this unpeated, cask-strength spirit, imbuing it with subtle maritime nuances. This expression pays homage to the mystical encounter while exuding a coastal and saline character that echoes the rich history of our shores.
The Glen Scotia 12 Years Icons of Campbeltown Release 1, The Mermaid, invites you on a sensory journey – a tribute to the enduring spirit of the Campbeltown community and its enchanting tales.

Tasting note
Its aroma offers a rich, mellow experience with maritime salt, boat varnish, and edible seaweed, complemented by fruity tarte tatin and indulgent Dundee Seville marmalade notes, alongside tablet toffee. On the palate, a creamy texture introduces lightly sweet French apple tart flavors with a hint of salt. The finish is long and warming, leaving a savory aftertaste and culminating in a spicy finish.
