While the Isle of Arran was once a hotbed of distilling activity, there were no distilleries on the island for most of the 19th and 20th centuries. In 1995, Isle of Arran Distillery opened their first distillery and quickly became the most popular. They bottled their first single malt whisky in 1998, a limited edition 3 year old in a glass bottle. The distillery also produces a peat single malt whisky called Machrie Moor, but an experimental second distillery called Lagg on the other side of the island is now home to all of the company’s peat production. Since 2019, the distillery has changed its name to Lochranza, but its single malt brand is still known under the old name Arran. This limited edition collection is a tribute to the dark history of Arrans Distillation. During the 18th and 19th centuries, the island was the site of illegal whisky production. Three volumes were released, displayed in book-style packaging to conceal the merchandise. This is the complete trilogy
