The history of The GlenDronach
The GlenDronach is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, founded in 1826 by James Allardice. Nestled in the rural landscape of Forgue in the Highlands, a whisky tradition was born here that continues to this day. The location was deliberately chosen for its pure water and ideal maturation conditions.
Over the years, the distillery changed ownership several times. Since 2016, The GlenDronach has been part of Brown‑Forman. Under the guidance of master blender Rachel Barrie, the brand has flourished once more, with great respect for its traditional style and a clear focus on quality and authenticity.
The GlenDronach whisky production process
Craftsmanship is at the heart of everything at The GlenDronach. The whisky is slowly distilled in traditional copper pot stills. This process yields a rich and complex spirit, which is then matured for many years in old stone dunnage warehouses with earthen floors.
