GlenDronach’s third port finish is eighteen years old this time. It is the successor to the fifteen-year-old from 2011 and in comparison it has more emphatic notes of oak, but the whisky is also more complex and deeper in taste. He was initially raised in barrels of European oak, after which he was crossed over to tawny port barrels for his finish. The whisky was bottled in 2014 in a limited batch, not cold filtered and with its natural color.

In terms of smell, this whisky has an elegant, sweet aroma of treacle, red fruit compote, raspberries and strawberries, balanced by red grapefruit. Spicy of cinnamon and nutmeg provides warmth and depth.
The taste is very lively and has many fruity notes of cranberry, stewed plums, red currants, figs and baked apples which are complemented by notes of cedar wood, tobacco, black pepper and roasted barley. Wonderfully complex and warm with some fine spiciness in the long aftertaste.
