A very rare whisky of only 500 bottles. A truly unique limited edition celebrating the reprint of the most classic book chronicling the world’s first whisky distilling process. A Bruichladdich 18 year old, distilled in 1984 and bottled in 2002. Bruichladdich closed in 1995, but was bought by Mark Reynier in December 2000 and reopened in May 2001. Since then, the distillery has released endless limited editions and exclusive bottlings. Reynier is also the founding father of Waterford, a young distillery from Ireland that is redefining ‘terroir’. Also view Waterford in our showroom.
The Enlightenment was released in 2002 to commemorate the reprint of the treatise “The Practical Distiller”, originally published in 1718. This book is credited as the world’s first description of how whisky should be produced. The tribute, an 18 year old distillate is bottled by hand.
A copy of the aforementioned bible of whisky distillation is also included with this beautiful oak presentation case. A great set that makes the real history of whisky tangible.

Tasting note
This whisky is based on bourbon casks. Take your time with the nose. Warm the glass a little in your palm. Then the fruity comes up. You notice sweet hints; apples and a grape with vanilla in the background from the barrel. This whiskey is a great bourbon sensation.
In the taste the rich full wood, vanilla and honey. A creamy sensation. Then comes the tone of oak. Also a touch of spice and ending with a slightly salty taste.
The aftertaste is surprisingly spicy. The honey remains full. It reminds me of salted caramel. Lots of taste in a sexy jacket.
