Cask Information

The Dalmore 30 Year Old 2023 Release was initially matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, which is common for Dalmore and imparts vanilla and gentle oak notes. What sets this release apart is its finish in rare Port casks, including at least one previously holding Graham’s 1982 Single Harvest Port. This Port finish adds deep, rich, fruity and spiced flavors, such as dark chocolate, plums, and orange zest, that are more pronounced than in standard Dalmore expressions. In contrast, other Dalmore whiskies, like their 12- or 18-year-olds, may be finished in sherry casks or standard bourbon casks, resulting in lighter fruit notes or more traditional Highland malt character. This combination of long aging and specialized Port casks gives the 30-year-old a complexity and depth that stands out within the distillery’s lineup.
