Cask Information
The Dalmore Port Wood Reserve begins its maturation in American white oak ex-bourbon casks. These barrels establish an elegant foundation of creamy vanilla, caramel, citrus and gentle oak spice, while allowing The Dalmore’s characteristic orange-led spirit to remain vibrant and expressive.
Following this initial maturation, the whisky is divided into two components. One portion remains in the American white oak casks, while the other is transferred into aged Tawny Port pipes from the renowned W&J Graham’s Port estate. These large Port casks enrich the whisky with layers of ripe plums, red berries, macerated cherries, sultanas and luxurious dark-fruit sweetness.
The two components are eventually reunited, allowing the freshness and vanilla character of the bourbon casks to balance the richness and depth of the Tawny Port influence. The result is a harmonious and richly textured single malt in which vibrant citrus, creamy sweetness and opulent fruit come together with remarkable elegance.

The Dalmore Port Wood Reserve is an indulgent Highland single malt that brings together the distillery’s celebrated citrus-driven house style with the rich and opulent character of aged Tawny Port. Created through The Dalmore’s renowned approach to cask curation, this distinctive expression offers a sophisticated balance of ripe fruit, creamy sweetness and elegant oak.
Initially matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, the whisky develops a refined foundation of vanilla, caramel and bright citrus. A carefully selected portion is subsequently transferred into aged Tawny Port pipes, introducing deeper layers of red berries, ripe plums and dark fruit before the components are reunited in perfect harmony.
The result is a richly layered single malt with notes of Seville orange, nectarine, sticky toffee pudding and roasted chestnut, complemented by Java coffee and polished oak. Bottled at 46.5% ABV, the whisky possesses excellent concentration while retaining the smooth and elegant character for which The Dalmore is internationally renowned.
Presented in The Dalmore’s iconic bottle and adorned with the silver Royal Stag, Port Wood Reserve is a refined expression of the historic relationship between the Highland distillery and the prestigious Port houses of Portugal. Its generous fruit profile and distinctive cask influence make it an impressive whisky for both the experienced connoisseur and the collector seeking a characterful addition to a distinguished collection.
