Duvel Moortgat has something to celebrate this year: the 150th anniversary of the brewery. The distillate was bottled in a limited edition especially for the birthday in a beautiful bottle in the shape of the iconic Duvel glass. Every day, the Duvel Moortgat brewers brew the world-famous Duvel specialty beer with passion and craftsmanship. In addition to a healthy dose of ambition, the brewers also have a strong dose of creativity.
Since 2006, the Duvel Moortgat brewers have been working with great passion and craftsmanship on a product that brings together the best of the Belgian brewing and distilling world: Duvel Distilled.
Duvel Distilled 2021 rested a full decade on carefully selected oak bourbon and sherry casks and then followed, for the version in the Celebration Bottle, a finish on Moscatel de Sétubal casks. You can safely call this edition an anniversary distillate: both in terms of taste and looks, this version is unique and one-off.
The iconic shape of the Duvel glass forms the base of the bottle and the red D is also prominent. The cool bottle holder is inspired by Duvel’s white, full foam head and the base of the Duvel glass has been transformed into the cap of the bottle. This Duvel Distilled will undoubtedly become a collector’s item that many Duvel lovers are eagerly awaiting.

Tasting note
This Duvel Distilled has a dark red – ochre-like color and you perceive a subtle, slightly fruity, nutty touch with a hint of vanilla, toffee and raisins.
It tastes as expected, like a single malt. Malty, with lots of juicy raisins, mandarin and then a clay-like finish.
Might this last twist be the effect of distilled hops? Who knows, but it is certainly a fascinating release.
