Although the Isle of Arran was once a hotbed of distilling activity, there were no distilleries on the island for much of the 19th and 20th centuries. In 1995, the Isle of Arran Distillery opened their first distillery and quickly became the most popular. Arran is a young and still one of the few independent distilleries that started distilling in Lochranza about 30 years ago. On the Isle of Arran, the water quality for whisky production was the best here. After the distillery opened, they released their first limited edition Single Malt in 1998.
After years, this 25-year-old Arran is the first edition of this age to be permanently included in the range. Only 3000 bottles of this first edition were released worldwide. A very rare and beautiful first edition. For now, it is also the oldest whisky that Arran has released since its inception. That is why it is a special whisky for this distillery. And we are happy to have the embodiment of this story in our range.

Tasting note
This whisky is matured in ex-Sherry and Bourbon Casks and is bottled at 46% Vol without chill filtration or addition of any colouring. In the nose you will find first oak and nutmeg. Then sweeter aromas of ripe figs and cherries.
When tasting it’s fruitcake, toasted almonds and a touch of cinnamon. After that comes the complete palette of juicy mandarins and honey. To top it off, taste baked apricots and an interesting note of white pepper that adds even more complexity.
The finish is surprisingly creamy and spicy with hints of dark chocolate and walnut. We end with compote of dark red fruit. A complex and beautiful profile if you ask us.
