Each Arran Single Malt begins life in the hills high above the distillery as Scottish rainwater. The wood of the barrel and the right time will do the rest. And precisely ‘time’ is what this edition is about.
As always with Arran, the cauldrons did their job and made a beautiful ghost. At the turn of the millennium, the stillmen work indestructibly to fill barrels with the spirit of this historic moment. After 13 years of maturation, there is now a marriage of 35 Bourbon casks and 10 Sherry hogsheads bottled as The Millennium Casks, of which only 7,800 bottles have become available worldwide. To our knowledge, this is the only whiskey dedicated to the turn of the millennium. For this reason, the label is decorated with an image of Janus, the Roman god of the beginning and the end and also the namesake of the month of January. Since this god also stands for transition, he is also depicted with two faces. In this way, the distillery has given a face to a new era.

Tasting note
This whisky is bottled at a cask strength of 53.5% and without chill filtration or addition of colorants. The nose is creamy with nice notes of bourbon, oak and vanilla. Then fruit such as aromas of berries, strawberries and a hint of citrus.
When tasted, it is creamy and sweet. There is also a lot of fruit. From berries and citrus to baked apple. Then comes vanilla and strawberries.
The finish is surprisingly long and nice and warm. Sherry passes by. Sweet, cinnamon and orange. We think beautiful autumn tones in a very rich whisky.
