Fettercairn 28 Years Old has matured for nearly three decades in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels. These casks provide a refined foundation of vanilla, caramel and gentle oak spice, while allowing Fettercairn’s characteristic tropical fruit profile to remain vibrant and expressive.
The extended maturation gradually introduces deeper notes of dark treacle, roasted nuts, chestnut and polished wood. This creates an elegant contrast between ripe pineapple, melon and banana on one side, and a richer, darker oak character on the other. Tasting Note
Nose:
Upon pouring, the whisky reveals an elegant bouquet of ripe pineapple, honeyed melon and soft banana. As it opens, deeper layers of vanilla, dark treacle and polished oak emerge, complemented by hints of roasted nuts and delicate citrus peel.
Palate:
The palate is rich and beautifully rounded, led by tropical fruits, creamy vanilla and warm caramel. Notes of dried apricot, ginger and black pepper add depth, while walnut, liquorice and subtle roasted coffee provide a darker, more mature character.
