Littlemill was a small distillery in the town of Bowing. The Lowlands distillery was situated on the banks of the Clyde River, a few kilometers from the Loch Lomond distillery. During the global economic crisis in the 1980s, the distillery was closed for a few years before the curtain fell for good for Littlemill in 1994.
In 1997 the Littlemill distillery was completely dismantled (with the stills moved to the Loch Lomond distillery). When the distillery burned to the ground in 2004, Littlemill’s long history came to an end. Although the distillery no longer exists, there are still a few casks of Littlemill left. These barrels are safely stored at Loch Lomond.
Master blender Michael Henry has taken care of the last drops of Littlemill. With his knowledge and expertise he selects the best casks and when the time is right a cask is bottled, making a selective number of bottles available to whisky enthusiasts worldwide. The Monnik Dranken from the Netherlands managed to acquire one rare barrel of this, namely barrel number 15/74-8.
This single cask is bottled and released in 3 stages. It is a Littlemill distilled in 1990 that first matured in a refill bourbon barrel. It was crossed over in early 2015 into first fill Oloroso sherry hogshead #15/74-6 for a second maturation. This 1st Edition was bottled in 2022 at natural cask strength of 49.8% ABV, non chill filtered and with no added colour, as a limited release of 60 bottles.
This first edition of The Dutch Trilogy embodies the true essence of exclusivity, with only a very limited number of bottles available for the most discerning whisky collectors and connoisseurs. Each bottle is hand-numbered and packaged in an elegant and luxurious design, reflecting the grandeur of this masterpiece. We are therefore proud to have this edition in our collection. On to editions two and three.

Tasting note
This Littlemill is very full and rich, in particular due to the influences of the Oloroso sherry cask. Upon opening the bottle you are greeted by an enchanting aroma of honeyed malt, ripe peaches and subtle spicy notes. The taste is lush and layered. A beautiful palette of spices in combination with the rich sherry influences, but also some tropical fruit, fudge, black pepper and cocoa. The finish is very long, with the spicy and full aromas of the body also clearly recognizable.
