Limited Edition

After the Mackenzie and Castle Leod, Cromartie is the third in a series of limited releases from Dalmore. They were created by Master Distiller Richard Patterson in honor of the Clan Mackenzie. They owned the distillery for over a hundred years.

The whisky was distilled in 1996 and matured for 15 years in two types of cask. After maturing in American oak, the whisky was transferred to Oloroso barrels from the famous bodega Gonzalez Byass.

Tasting note

The whisky is nice and flowery, but soon the Sherry influences emerge. Notes of dried fruit, chocolate, leather, candied orange peel and mint. But also aromas of honey and roasted malt can be recognized in the nose.

In the beginning, fruit and spices dominate the taste. Among other things, notes of raisins, dried figs and dates, orange marmalade, ginger, nutmeg, licorice and pepper form a wonderfully sweet and powerful whole. In the aftertaste there are notes of pepper and very bitter chocolate. Balanced by marmalade and caramel.
