The Macallan Distil Your World Hong Kong draws its remarkable complexity from a carefully composed selection of exceptional oak casks. European oak hogsheads seasoned with sherry provide the whisky with its deep structure, antique oak character and intense layers of ginger and warm spice. American oak casks seasoned with sherry introduce a softer sweetness, complemented by elegant notes of vanilla, citrus and ripe fruit.
Selected ex-bourbon barrels add further vibrancy, bringing tropical influences of mango and grapefruit to the composition. By marrying these contrasting cask types, The Macallan has created a richly layered single malt in which mature oak and warming spice are balanced by bright, exotic fruit, reflecting Hong Kong’s unique harmony between tradition and modern energy.

Created by Lead Whisky Maker Euan Kennedy in collaboration with the celebrated Roca brothers of El Celler de Can Roca, this exceptional single malt captures Hong Kong’s remarkable fusion of ancient traditions, modern architecture and vibrant culinary culture.
The whisky is composed from an intricate selection of European oak hogsheads seasoned with sherry, American oak casks seasoned with sherry and carefully selected ex-bourbon barrels. The European oak provides intensity, mature spices and a distinctive antique-oak character, while the American oak and bourbon casks introduce balance, sweetness and vibrant tropical fruit. The different components were married for an extended period, allowing their contrasting characteristics to develop into a harmonious and richly layered single malt. Bottled at 46.8% ABV, it delivers both structure and remarkable flavour intensity.
Its flavour profile reflects the rhythm and diversity of Hong Kong. Fragrant ginger and warm spices meet ripe mango, grapefruit and pomelo, accompanied by honeyed sweetness, polished oak and subtle pastry-like notes reminiscent of a traditional Hong Kong egg tart. The combination of tropical freshness, savoury depth and mature wood creates a whisky that continually reveals new layers with every tasting.
Presented in a striking royal-blue case inspired by the waters surrounding Hong Kong, the bottle forms the fourth chapter within The Macallan’s prestigious Distil Your World collection. With a reported global release of only 500 bottles, it is an exceptionally scarce expression created for serious collectors and admirers of The Macallan. Nose:
Upon pouring, the whisky reveals an expressive bouquet of fresh ginger, ripe mango and zesty grapefruit. Warm baking spices and polished oak gradually emerge, joined by delicate notes of honey, vanilla and lightly toasted pastry, creating a vibrant balance between tropical freshness and mature depth.
Palate:
The palate is rich and energetic, led by juicy mango, pomelo and candied citrus. Layers of ginger, cinnamon and warming oak spice add structure, while sherry-seasoned casks contribute dried fruit, honeyed sweetness and a subtle antique-wood character. Soft vanilla and toasted almonds provide a refined, rounded texture.
Finish:
The finish is long and beautifully balanced, with tropical fruit slowly giving way to ginger, dry oak and elegant spice. Lingering notes of grapefruit peel, honey and warm pastry create a sophisticated finale that reflects Hong Kong’s distinctive harmony between tradition and modern vibrancy.
