The New Zealand Whisky Collection, The Oamaruvian Cask is named after Oamaru’s harbour. 200 barrels of Duendin single grain from American bourbon barrels in French red wine casks that previously aged New Zealand wine. The result: The Dunedin Doublewood. Aged for 6 years in American oak followed by a finish of 10 years in New Zealand wine cask 572. Non chill filtered and with no added colourants.
The distillery was sold to Seagrams in the 1980s. The Willowbank Distillery subsequently prospered. For example, the single malt Lammerlaw (named after the nearby mountain range) was highly regarded.

Tasting note
The scent that comes up with this whisky are raisins, dark cherries, cloves, stone fruit and almonds. With the important flavors of dried fruit; cherries and strawberries with almonds, liquorice and aniseed.
And the finish is slightly drying with spice and sweetness.
