Tomatin Five Virtues – Earth is the third and middle release of the series and is the type of whisky not often encountered at this distillery. We usually recognize more soft whiskies from the Highlands, but this one has a certain peat taste. This has a logical reason; the maturation was done by combining dried barley with Hogshead casks.
This Earth release is third in the series of “The Five Virtues”, a concept that pays homage to the ancient craft, processes and materials used by the distillers; Water feeds wood; wood sustains fire; fire gives life to earth; earth yields metal; metal gathers water; and so this circle goes on and on.

Tasting note
This whisky is bottled at a cask strength of 46.0%. The nose is surprisingly different from the rest of the series. Slightly sweet smoke, smoldering heather and notes of vanilla. Then aromas of dark fruit and a little spice.
Tasting starts with surprising creamy flavours. Vanilla and spicy oak, warm honey and walnuts. Then come the smoky flavors, yet sweet. Also salty.
The finish is long and with sweet smoky flavors. Also slightly spicy still on the palate. The fruity notes still linger.
