Fortunately, the industry has recovered over the past few decades, and today, Irish whiskey is experiencing a resurgence with numerous artisanal and innovative distilleries continuing the rich tradition.

What makes Irish whiskey so special? Unlike Scotch whisky, Irish whiskey is usually triple-distilled, resulting in a softer and smoother drink. Another characteristic of Irish whiskey is that it has a minimum maturation of three years in oak casks. Finally, Irish whiskey has different styles, such as single malt, grain and pot still whiskey, which are often combined in blends for a unique taste.
