De Molenberg 2th Anniversary Fado Vivo

Fado Vivo is the second part of the Anniversary series by Stokerij De Molenberg. We told you the story of this series in the first edition of this, Gold Fusion.
Fado Vivo, like the first edition, is a limited edition on the occasion of the distillery’s second anniversary. This whisky is named after the Portuguese folk songs ‘Fado’. Fado is even more than the song of life in Portugal. Fado is life itself. The word fado is derived from the Latin fatum, meaning fate. Fado sings about fate, the sadness, possibilities and impossibilities of life, expressed in music, full of melancholy and fatalism.

A reference to the melancholy in this second limited edition. This ruby ​​red whisky unites the powerful taste of grain and oak with the soft warmth of port wine and ripe fruit.
A beautiful and powerful combination to enjoy together and to celebrate life, or ‘vivo’.
This edition is a special blend of single malt whisky matured for 2 years in Tawny Port casks (75%) with some ‘Anker’ casks of varying ages selected from the various maturation chambers (25%). These Portuguese casks, previously used for more than 6 years for port wine maturation, represent a 2-year finish from an earlier 3-year aging in classic ex-Bourbon casks, according to the distillery.
