This Dark Port is a very special edition of Stokerij De Molenberg and extremely rare. This whisky is a fifth generation special selection in the Charles Leclef family business.
In the distillery’s maturation warehouses, each cask is carefully monitored and regularly tasted. From time to time, the family comes up with exceptional expressions. This Dark Port is one of them. These Finest Selections have their own bottling and are welcomed with open arms by enthusiasts.
This edition was selected by father familias Charles Leclef: “Before the start-up of Stokerij De Molenberg, I visited J. Dias Cooperage, a Portuguese barrel maker, at a 30-minute drive from Porto. In 2015, we were able to purchase a unique series of barrels that way. used for maturing port wine. After a few years the first samples were tasted and this remarkable cask immediately caught the eye. The dark color goes beautifully with the soft notes of fruit, nectar, oak and cinnamon. A wonderfully rich start for perhaps a new series.” A beautiful powerhouse!

Tasting note
Despite its young age, this whisky is very mature. The nose is full and creamy. Due to the port influences, of course, soon ripe fruit comes. Also slightly spicy and some citrus. Finally dark fruit again. This whisky clearly shows its maturation.
The taste comes first with beautiful full wood tones. A continuation of spices, especially cinnamon. Candied fruit follows where you also notice the port influence. A real flavor bomb.
The aftertaste is a bit syrupy. Also with a lot of port. Fine and soft in the mouth. A very full and very unique whisky.
