Cask Information
Glengoyne 18 Year Old is matured using a generous proportion of carefully selected first-fill sherry casks. Because these casks are being used for their first Scotch whisky maturation after seasoning with sherry, they provide an intense interaction between spirit and oak, contributing exceptional richness, colour and flavour.
The first-fill sherry casks introduce layers of dried and macerated fruit, marzipan, walnut and warm spice. They also deepen Glengoyne’s naturally fresh apple character with notes of Seville orange marmalade, dry cocoa and mature oak, creating a whisky with a rich and luxurious mouthfeel.
The full composition is not presented as an exclusively sherry-cask maturation. Instead, Glengoyne emphasises the generous or predominant share of first-fill sherry casks within the marriage. This careful balance allows the sherry influence to provide depth and structure without overwhelming the distillery’s elegant, fruit-driven house style.

At Glengoyne, distillation takes place at an exceptionally measured pace. This prolonged interaction with the copper stills creates an elegant and delicate spirit, allowing vibrant fruit, creamy sweetness and subtle spice to develop without the influence of peat smoke. After nearly two decades of maturation, these characteristics have evolved into a beautifully balanced whisky with remarkable richness and refinement.
The whisky reveals generous notes of ripe red apple, melon and spiced vanilla, followed by layers of macerated fruit, marzipan and walnut. Dry cocoa, warm spices and Seville orange marmalade provide depth, while mature oak gives the whisky its polished structure and lingering complexity.
Bottled at 43% ABV, presented at natural colour and without chill filtration, Glengoyne 18 Year Old retains the integrity and texture developed during its extended maturation. Nose:
Upon pouring, the whisky reveals an elegant bouquet of ripe red apples, juicy melon and spiced vanilla. As it opens, warm porridge with brown sugar emerges alongside dried fruit, soft marzipan and polished oak, creating an inviting balance between freshness and mature sweetness.
Palate:
The palate is full-bodied, round and luxuriously textured, led by macerated orchard fruits, rich marzipan and toasted walnuts. Layers of cinnamon, warm baking spices and dry cocoa gradually develop, while Seville orange marmalade introduces a vibrant bittersweet contrast.
Finish:
The finish is long, warm and elegantly dry. Lingering notes of orange peel, walnut and cocoa slowly give way to gentle oak spice and restrained sherry sweetness, leaving a refined and beautifully balanced Highland impression.
