Founded in 1948 by Fred Douglas Laing, a man with a genuine love and serious passion for whisky, Douglas Laing & Co. a proud independent family business for bottling the finest whiskies.
This 30 year old, vintage Macallan is also a wonderful example of this. As most already know, Macallan is one of the most exclusive and valuable whisky brands in the world. DL bought this cask and bottled it themselves for the Xtra Old Particular series. This Macallan was distilled in February 1990 and matured in a refill hogshead DL with number 14631. After 3 decades, this single malt was bottled at cask strength in January 2021. This makes this Macallan extremely exclusive and rare. An absolute must-have for any whisky collection. We are therefore proud to have this pearl in our collection.

Tasting note
The nose opens with lush aromas of ripe dark fruits, such as juicy plums and dried figs, mixed with a subtle hint of burnt sugar on citrus notes. A luscious bouquet of toffee, caramel and dark chocolate gradually unfolds, surrounded by a touch of fine oak and a touch of spiciness. A subtle swirl of vanilla and honey softens the whole, creating an inviting and complex nose.
On the tongue, this 30 year old Macallan presents a balanced and refined taste experience. The rich, full texture reveals layers of citrus and soft ginger with spices, which blend harmoniously with notes of cinnamon and nutmeg. The palate is further pampered with the deep, silky taste of dark chocolate and liquorice, with subtle undertones of nuts and dried herbs.
The finish is long lasting and warming, with the sweetness of dried fruit and honey mingling with the lingering influence of oak. The finish remains delicate and balanced, with a touch of spicy elegance that slowly fades, leaving a lasting impression.
