On our Series page the story of this Tomatin Five Virtues series is described. Tomatin Wood is the first expression in this five part series of Tomatin: Five Virtues. This shows the symbiosis between the five natural elements in whisky production. The most important link in the process is the aging in oak barrels. For this bottling (limited to 6,000 bottles) a careful selection has been made from the many varieties among the 177,000 casks that are stored in fourteen warehouses. A combination of barrels of French (70%, whiskey fired in 2006), American (20%, 2006) and Hungarian (10%, 1999) oak has been chosen. The illustration on the packaging was designed by the English artist Eva Ullrich.
A beautiful part of the series that brings us back to the basis of our existence.

Tasting note
This whisky is bottled at a cask strength of 46.0%. The nose is round and complex with beautiful notes of spicy oak, toasted oak and vanilla. Then fruit like aromas of apple and pear. Even a little chemical.
When you taste it, it is sweet with some brown sugar flavor. Orange and citrus can also be recognized. Then comes vanilla and spicy oak.
The finish is not so long and creamy. Honey also passes. Sweet, caramel and orange. Great for a rainy fall day.
